About Us 2006 Annual Report (6 MB) Mission Statement The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. The Scenic Bluffs chapter provides the following services throughout La Crosse, Houston, Jackson, Monroe and Vernon counties: Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) The Red Cross is mandated by Congress to provide communications and other services to active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces and community based military and their families. Click here for more information Blood Services The Scenic Bluffs Chapter is part of the Badger Hawkeye and North Central Blood Regions. Each day donors must donate the lifesaving gift of blood in order to meet the needs of patients throughout the upper Midwest including Veterans Administration hospitals and clinics. Click here for more information Health and Safety Education For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has been saving lives through health and safety education and training. From first aid, CPR and bloodborne pathogens training to swimming and lifeguarding, and Babysitter's Training, American Red Cross programs help people lead safer and healthier lives. The Red Cross constantly strives to respond to the health and safety concerns of Americans at home, in school and in the workplace. Today's innovative programs also include teaching lay persons and professionals how to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to save victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Last year, nearly 12 million people enrolled in American Red Cross health and safety courses. Click here for more information Disaster Services Over the past 90 years, the Scenic Bluffs Chapter has been ready to help the citizens in our area prepare for, prevent a d respond to disasters. We are on call around the clock, 365 days a year assisting those whose lives have been impacted by fire or any natural disaster. Most recently we deployed more than 80 local residents to the gulf coast area to support disaster response needs as a result of the hurricanes. At home volunteers and staff are ready to respond to whatever emergency needs our residents may experience whether they be as a result of a house fire or river flooding.
